The warm march air crept in to the building from the streets of LA. I stood in a dark corner of the theater lobby. The loud thump of drums and screeching of guitars came from the opened doors of the theater. I looked around me, mainly young teens with their parents. I was probably a lot older than most of the people here, excluding all of the parents. But, I was probably a much bigger fan than any of those who were screaming and jumping around. I waited in line with my best friend Lacey for a chance to meet my heroes. I leaned against the wall, waiting for this line to move. My jet-black hair hung in my eyes so I could barely see. Lacey turned to me, "Come on, we're moving up!!!" She grabbed my arm.
Now there were only a few people ahead of us, and my heroes stood before me, war-paint-covered and clad in ripped black clothing. The five band members hugged fans and posed for pictures. Little did they know that they had saved my life multiple times and helped me survive middle school and most of high school. Fairly soon, we were first in line. My heart was pounding. I was actually going to meet them. Lacey let out a squeaky giggle. I had waited my entire life for this. I looked at him. The one. He waved goodbye to another fan and turned to me and Lacey.
I stood there, motionless, as did he. Him. The one. The Prophet. His light blue eyes shimmered. I had never felt this way before. "Come on!!!" Lacey squealed. I stepped forward. "Hey, what's your name?" He said. "I-I'm E-Ember..." I muttered, my cheeks turning bright red. "And I'm Lacey!!!" She squealed. "Hey Lacey!" Ashley said. I swear my best friend almost fainted. "So, how are you?" Andy asked. "I-I'm uh, great..." I muttered in response. His eyes looked filled with sorrow, as if he could see my past. "You guys ready to have fun?" CC said. "Totally!!!" Lacey said. "Well, what do you want us to sign?" Jinxx asked. "T-This please..." I said, handing them a small notebook. They each took a turn and signed a page, then returned it to me. "Ok, picture time!!!" Lacey screeched. Andy put his arm on my shoulders and the rest of the band gathered around. Lacey snapped a shot and I did the same for her. "Alright, I guess we should go." I said. "Alright, have fun and never give in!!!" Andy replied.
We headed into the main part of the theater where they were transitioning over for another opening act. I opened the notebook to look at their autographs. Jake. Jinxx. CC. Ashley. A... My heart almost exploded from what I had written on Andy's page.
"Hey Ember. Text me. 323-543-9067"
I quickly tucked it away, hoping no one had seen it. Andy, did he actually like me?
